Font - Manager "missed" my 70$ write in tip while processing my money bag and closing my shift. Is there anything we can do? Ive been driving for Jimmy Johns for over a year now, and yesterday I got the biggest tip I had ever seen, 70$ for a 400$ order. Thats more than usually what I make in a night in tips when I work in this area.

Font - I went to my assistant manager to have her close my shift, and they complain when our money bags aren't organized, so I had my only write in tip in (70$) the back of the bag (as I usually put them) and the normal ones in the front.

Font - Well she was in a bad mood and complained about doing my bag and she processed my tips in no less than 2 seconds, didn't even check for the write in tip, didn't even ask me when managers usually check before assuming.

Font - In the end, she basically told the computer I didn't receive a tip on that order when in fact I did have a tip, all because she was in a bad mood and didn't want to do my bag, wouldn't let me do my own bag, didn't look through my tip receipts, and didn't bother asking me.

Font - Is there anything I can do? I am sort of asking this question under the assumption that most stores use the same system for functions.

The OP was soon back with an update after talking to their boss

Font - *UPDATE* Assistant Manager missed my $70 write in tip. I talked to my actual boss this morning, and essentially there is nothing she can do with the credit card or credit card company, per her explanation; it has been too long since the tip was missed and my shift was closed, the credit card cannot be touched now.

Font - Some have suggested going above her and talking to the store and franchise owner, but that is her son in law in my case...

Font - Others have provided some explanations that I feel like would actually work, but according to my boss it is just not possible now. However she said she is trying to contact the customer who ordered the 400$ order in the beginning and is going to try to convince them to place an order for a kicking ranch, then promo it for them so its free next time they order, then get their permission to re write in the tip on a new ticket so I can cash it out. But the number on the receipt is a vacant n

Font - am seriously considering contacting the department of labor to file a complaint, but I also don't want my boss finding out and getting upset with me or even not offering me a job next semester (I am a college student about to leave town for summer break and as of now I am working spring and fall semesters), and I really do enjoy my job and make good money in the long run.

Plant - Thank you all for the very kind support and help you have given me, but I really don't think I will be getting the $70 tip in the end.

In the comments, people had tons of advice, and numerous GM's even chimed in.

Font - RandomGuy32124. 15 hr. ago General Manager Say gimme 70 bucks in dmr or I walk. This shouldn't have been missed and they owe you. Contacting department of labor would work too.

Font - Fancy-Button-4619 14 hr. ago Time limit my a. They can just call merchant services. Give them the last 4 credit card numbers/total charged. Then ask them to apply a tip ontop of that initial charge. It's easy, just takes a little time because calling merchant services sucks аг

Font - + forlenzers 15 hr. ago General Manager honestly if we miss tips we just apply it as a cash pay out from the register. they should've given you cash

Font - HalPal78 OP. 15 hr. ago You are like the fourth General Manager who was told me that, I really wish you guys were my managers lol. I agree they should have given me cash. But the 17 year old high school assistant manager freaked after she figured she probably just screwed me over my $70 tip. She then called the next up manager, he didn't know what to do, just told me to talk to boss on Monday, I did that and she tells me it is too late now.

Font - Mr_Grandilo 14 hr. ago Regional Manager Something important to realize as well; If you contact the Department of Labor to get this solved and you are not offered a job next semester (and at that, can prove that this whole Shabazz is the reason) you have a solid case of retaliation which is also super-big-time not okay.

Font - Cannacrohn 12 hr. ago The store owes you $70 for their mistake and they can give it to you in cash or on your next check. You need to make it clear that they owe you this money and it is their responsibility.

Font - yeahrightpeter. 7 hr. ago Assistant Manager This. If I legitimately mess up & don't get a tip put in, I'm either gonna ask my AM to do something about it, or I'm doing a cash payout so my driver gets their money. Even on my bad nights I still look at any write ins & take my time.

Font - Disastrous-Cat-3727. 14 hr. ago This happened a few times in my stores. You can call the credit card company and have them adjust the total charge. You'll have to short the cash register but it balances out. Just let your coach know

Font - REDMAGE00 10 hr. ago If the receipts are saved they won't match the amount that was turned into the bank, which also generated a receipt. Owner should be able to see that.

Font - Zestyclose_Routine78. 6 hr. ago You are owed $70 bucks. Plain and simple. It's coming out of someones pocket.

Font - Letharos 4 hr. ago Check your employment laws. Most have a "no retaliation" clause for reporting illegal activity. They stole $70.00 from you. Report, report, report.
